LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY

This picture was taken in Wilkesbarre, PA at "The Tubs" State Park. Although it was taken mid-day, the lighting is unique due to the shading from the trees. The horizontal lines created by the rock patterns draw the viewer's eyes from the bottom right of the photograph into the middle of the river. The canopy of the trees also keep the emphasis on the lower half of the picture and frames the scene.

This picture was taken at sunset in a park near Finleyville, PA. The contrast in colors is very unique and the tree line creates a silhouette. I took almost 100 pictures at that location on a tripod and ended up taking the sunset from one photograph and photoshopping it with the grass from another to brighten up the green color. The photographs were taken with very slow shutter speeds in order to accommodate for the low light.

This is my favorite picture of the three. The image was taken on Lake Naomi, in Pocono Pines, Pennsylvania. The contrast here stands out between the bright blue color of the canoe and the darker water and rocks behind it. There are also parallel lines present with the canoe and kayak. The reflection in the water is also crisp and frames the photograph by bringing the viewers attention back to the emphasized canoe. Minor touch-ups were done on the canoe with slight level adjustments on the entire image to bring out the blue color.

Potential, but not quite right

I am not too happy with this image because of where I chose to cut off the bottom of the photograph. Although the bench legs bring the viewers eye to the center of the picture, the bottom seems incomplete. I also feel that changing the aperture to all for a little more focus on the flowers in the background may have changed the shot. There is a lot of potential for this shot I just did not like the outcome.

Mount Washington

I took this picture on Mount Washington in Pittsburgh, PA. I like the idea of the chain link fence running through creating unique lines in the photograph but I am not entirely happy with the lighting.
